Minister of Ethiopia visits Green!

FEBRUARY 25TH, 2016

This week Green had the pleasure of welcoming in our new house-office Mr. Assefa Negussie, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Ethiopia in Brazil. During the meeting we presented the Minister our ongoing projects in Uruguay and Nigeria, explaining the positive outcomes of using the Social Bioethanol as a clean fuel in developing nations. We also discussed the importance of promoting a partnership between Brazil and Ethiopia and the role developing nations have in fostering sustainable industrial development.

Green and Ethiopia are strengthening their ties and finding new opportunities for promoting the production and usage of clean bioethanol in rural Ethiopia. This beautiful country, one of the eldest states in history, is located in Eastern Africa right there in the "Horn of Africa", next the southern border of Sudan and the port of Djibouti. The official spoken language is Amharic, although there are many others spoken across the country by the almost and hugely diverse 100 million Ethiopians. According to the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, around 83% of these people live in rural areas, whereas almost 98% still rely on solid and polluting fuels for cooking.

Since 2004, Ethiopia has promoted very high rates of economic growth, with an annual GDP increase that stays around 10% per year. In spite of that, more than 75% of their population still lack access to modern energy sources and electricity. In order to solve this problem, Ethiopia has been conducting a series of researches and investments in clean energy production, which will also target the urgent need to provide electricity to low-income and rural communities.

Green Ethanol Micro Distilleries prroducing the Social Bioethanol can bey a key source of energy for Ethiopian families, and we hope to achieve great outcomes from the projects we develop together this year. Green is very glad in being part of this sustainable revolution towards Ethiopian Energy Autonomy!
